MacArthur’s House

MacArthur’s Home follows the precedent set by Dave’s Home in terms of conventional wood frame construction and a refined material palette. In contrast to the open floor plan of Dave’s Home, the form of MacArthur’s Home creates more distinct rooms. The home shape recalled a modified version of a ‘dogtrot’ typology. The front porch tucks in under the roof and is flanked on each side by the house. Front and back doors line up to offer opportunities for cross-ventilation. A large back porch is sized such that it could be enclosed and used for a second bedroom to accommodate changing household needs.
