Joanne’s House

While the forms of Dave’s and MacArthur’s homes preference a linear form with two rows of footings, Joanne’s Home utilizes a square form to maximize square footage relative to linear feet of perimeter. A large front porch cut from the corner of the home places the front entry at the center of the home, eliminating the need for circulation corridors. The placement of the doors and windows allows interaction between the porch and the social spaces of the home. Screen doors placed diagonally across the living room allow breezes to passively cool the living room.
